The laminations must be of one homogeneous material with no cut-outs, holes or hollow sections other than for the three slots for the round copper coil wires and the three slots for the screws used to hold the entire can together. The overall stator length parallel to the motor shaft shall be minimum 19.3 mm and maximum 21.0 mm. The thickness of the laminations shall be 0.35+/- 0.05mm. A ‘go-no-go’ gauge 14.500 +0.000/-0.005 mm diameter shall pass into the stator, clearing the stator plus its windings and the electrical collection ring at the end of the stator.
- Winding: Only three slot “Y” wound stators are permitted. No delta wound or slot-less stators are allowed. Only circular (round) pure copper magnet wire permitted. The three slot stator must be wound with 13.5 turns of 2 strands of 21 AWG or 2 strands of 0.71mm IEC and two strands of 23 AWG or 2 strands of 0.56mm IEC per slot. The inductance for each slot of the stator will be measured from the solder tab to the collection ring with the rotor removed from the motor. We will have an acceptable range posted in tech.
- Rotor: External shaft diameter must be 0.125 inches (3.175mm). Only one piece, two pole Neodymium sintered or bonded, or Ferrite (Ceramic) magnetic rotors are permitted. The magnet length shall be 25.0 +/-1.00mm not including any non-magnetic balancing material. The magnet outside diameter shall be a minimum/maximum of 12.2-12.51 mm, no tolerances, for theentire length of the magnet. The shaft outside diameter, where the magnet is mounted, shall be 7.25 +/- 0.150mm. This dimension must be measurable without destroying the rotor.
- No hybrid (mixing of parts from approved brushless motors) allowed.
- The maximum retail price of a brushless motor shall be $129.00.
- The motors must appear on the ROAR approved motor list by May 15,2008.
- The motors will be inspected and sealed prior to the start of qualifying.

the presence of the Tech crew and then re-sealed.
- Drivers will only be allowed a maximum of 3 checked motors for the race.
2008 Scoring and Qualifying Rules
There will be four rounds of qualifying for the Open Classes and eight rounds of racing for the Invitational class.
2008 Reedy Qual-Points System
Open Qualifying
All Open Class qualifying will be run using the standard IFMAR format. All racers in a qualifying heat will be on track on individual clocks. After each complete round of qualifying every racer will be ranked based on a qual-points system.
The following qual-points system does not have throw-outs. While your best two rounds place you in the appropriate main event, ties are settled by using all rounds depending on how far the tie goes between racers. Do not think of this system as having throw-outs. It definitely does not. Every round could count to some degree.
A. The Top Qualifier in each round gets zero points, second gets two points, third gets three points, etc., increasing by one point per position.
B. The main event qualifying order will be determined by the sum of the points of each driver’s best two rounds.
C. If there is a tie with the qualifying points, the tie will be broken by adding the laps and time of the drivers two best point finishes. If there is still a tie we will look at the drivers third best points finish and then the fourth if necessary.
D. In cases where only two rounds of Qualifying could be completed, the final Qualifying order is based on the single best points, with points from the second best round being used as the first level tie breaker, and the total laps/time for the two rounds being used as the second level tie breaker.
Open Main Event Scoring
All Open “A” Mains will use the triple main format. All lower mains will be single mains. There are no bump ups.
A. The final results of a triple A-Main event will be decided by a point system based on ten (10) points for the winner of each individual main on down to one (1) point for the tenth placed finisher in each individual main. The total of each driver’s best two (2) out of three (3) mains points will count. The first tiebreaker will be the combined laps and times of the drivers 2 best points. In the event of a need for a second tiebreaker, the points for the third main will be used.
A driver who wins the first two legs of a triple A Main event must sit out the third Main.
Invitational Scoring System
There will be 8 total race rounds for the Invitational class. The race heats have been pre-determined by the Reedy Invitational organizer. Four race rounds will be run on Saturday and four on Sunday.
- After each heat race drivers will be awarded points depending on how they finished in that race. 1st place receives 1 point, 2nd place receives 2 points, and 3rd place receives 3 points and so on.
- The two worst rounds will be thrown out, period. It doesn’t matter what day they occurred. These throw-outs will not be used to settle any ties.
- The winner of the Invitational Trophy will be awarded to the driver that has scored the fewest points in the 6 rounds that counted.
- In the event of a tie, the first tie-breaker will be determined by the most 1st place finishes between tied racers. Most 2nd place finishes will break second level ties. Third level ties will be broken by the most 3rd place finishes and so on all the way to sixth level tiebreakers.
- In the event that a tie still exists after all six levels of tie-breakers have been used we will take the racers involved in a tie and add up their 3 best total laps and time of the six rounds that counted. The two throw outs will never be used to break a tie.
Spec Tire
The spec tire that must be used for the 2008 Reedy Race is Sorex 36 on SpeedMind Rims.
- Tires in the Invitational class will not be limited this year. Drivers will be allowed to run a new set for every heat race. All tires must be teched prior to use for racing, these tires must be purchased on site. Open class drivers may use 3 total sets for qualifying and may purchase 1 additional set for the Mains. These tires must also be purchased on site as they will be tech-inspected.
- A total of 8 complete sets may be purchased for both practice and racing. We have a limited number of tires so 8 is the maximum we are able to supply all drivers. If you have tires that you already own they may be used for practice only.
- All race tech inspected tires must be purchased at the event. The cost of these tires is $35.00 a set.
- Tampering with the tires is prohibited. You may add a bead of glue to the tire to ensure bondage.
- Drilling extra holes in the wheels for ventilation is not allowed. You must use the tires original molded air vent holes.
- Wheel disks are not allowed.
- Using tire additives is allowed.
- Removing the stock insert and replacing it with another is strictly prohibited.
